George Walker Bush is an American politician and businessman who was the 43rd president of the United States, serving from 2001 to 2009. A member of the Republican Party, he had previously been the 46th governor of Texas from 1995 to 2000. He is the son of George H.W. Bush who was the 41st president of the United States from 1989 to 1993. He led America’s response to the September 11 terrorist attacks in 2001 and initiated the Iraq War in 2003. George W. Bush became the first person since Benjamin Harrison in 1888 to be elected president despite having lost the nationwide popular vote.
George Walker Bush was born on July 6, 1946, in New Haven, Connecticut. After graduating from Yale College in 1968 and Harvard Business School in 1975, he worked in the oil industry.
