Ronald Wilson Reagan was an American politician who served as the 40th president of the United States from 1981 to 1989. Before he served as the president, he was a Hollywood actor and union leader and then served as the 33rd governor of California from 1967 to 1975. In 1980, Reagan won the Republican presidential nomination and defeated the incumbent president, Jimmy Carter.
Ronald Wilson Reagan was born on February 6, 1911. He was raised in a low-income family in small towns of northern Illinois. After graduating from Eureka College he went on to work as a radio commentator. After moving to California in 1937, he found work as an actor and starred in a few major productions. He was the oldest man to be elected as President until Donald Trump. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 1994, after which he decreased his public appearances. He passed away on June 5, 2004.
