Christopher D’Olier Reeve was an American actor best known for playing the main character and title role in the film Superman and its sequels in the 80s. He also appeared in critically successful films such as The Bostonians (1984), Street Smart (1987), and The Remains of the Day (1993).
Christopher Reeve catapulted to stardom when he was selected to play the titular superhero of Superman (1978). His acclaimed portrayal of the Man of Steel led to the release of three sequels to the movie. In May 1995 Reeve became paralyzed from the neck down when he sustained a severe cervical spinal injury in a horse-riding accident.
