Sir Thomas Sean Connery was a Scottish actor and producer, well known as the first actor to portray the legendary character James Bond in films. He has starred in seven Bond films. In 1988, he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Untouchables. He’s also won two BAFTA Awards and three Golden Globes, including the Cecil B. DeMille Award and a Henrietta Award.
Thomas Sean Connery was born in Fountainbridge, Edinburgh, Scotland on 25 August 1930. He joined the Royal Navy at the age of 16 in 1946. He began his film career in 1954, working as an extra in various productions. Connery’s breakthrough came in the role of British secret agent James Bond in Dr. No and he went on to reprise the role in six subsequent Bond films. He also appeared in various other notable box office hits including Marnie, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and Entrapment. He passed away at the age of 90 on 31 October 2020.
