Anne Frank Quotes from Diary of a Young Girl

Anne Frank was a Jewish diarist and unfortunate victim of the Holocaust. She gained fame posthumously with the 1947 publication of The Diary of a Young Girl, in which she documents her life in hiding from 1942 to 1944, during the German occupation of the Netherlands in World War II. She is one of the most discussed victims of the Holocaust. She detailed her life in hiding and the numerous restrictions and atrocities inflicted upon Jews in Nazi Germany.

Frank was born Annelies or Anneliese Marie Frank on 12 June 1929. The Franks were liberal Jews, and did not observe all of the customs and traditions of Judaism. She was given an autograph book for her thirteenth birthday and she decided to use it as a diary. By May 1940, the Franks were trapped in Amsterdam by the German occupation of the Netherlands. As persecutions against the Jewish population increased, her family went into hiding and she documented her experience in her diary until they were caught and unfortunately taken to a concentration camp where she died. Her father Otto Frank, the only survivor in the family, found her diary post the war and published it. The diary explored topics of sexuality, mental health and various other teenage issues. It has since become a cultural symbol.
