Kratos has risen above the petty control of the gods. He goes as far as to wage war against them and destroy all those who stand in his way. The gods are but a mild annoyance and they do not control his fate anymore.

Kratos was a war machine all his life. In a moment of redemption, he accepts the fact that he has killed too many people in the span of his lifetime, some who were deserving while others who were undeserving.

Victory comes not to those who look down upon others but those who are determined, disciplined and hungry for victory. When Atreus learns of the fact that he is part god, he becomes too full of himself, looking down upon “little people”. But he is sobered up all thanks to Kratos. Atreus finally understands that being a god is not about feeling superior, it’s about being responsible with the power he’s been given.

As their journey comes to a close, Kratos tells Atreus of his own violent past. A bewildered Atreus asks Kratos if he is doomed to follow the same path as his father. Kratos has learned from his journey that fate can surely be changed. Kratos tells Atreus to be better and not walk in his footsteps.

Kratos’ ravishing hunger for revenge is legendary. By denying Kratos relief from the nightmares that had plagued him, the Gods of Olympus had dug their own graves. Kratos was not one to stop at anything.
