Malcolm X, born Malcolm Little, was an African- American minister and human rights activist. He was a vociferous supporter of black nationalism and Islamic teachings and is most prominently known for being a spokesperson for the Nation Of Islam, a belief system that merged Islam with black nationalism. Although a controversial figure for his radical views, Malcolm X is also a widely celebrated figure within African-American and Muslim American communities for his pursuit of racial justice.
Malcolm X was born Malcolm Little in 1925, in Omaha, Nebraska. At the age of 21, he was sent to prison for theft, where he has introduced the teachings of Elijah Muhammad, head of the Lost-Found Nation of Islam, or Black Muslims.
