The gang was all that Arthur cared about. He was loyal to the gang and was ready to do whatever it took for them. But Dutch changed and the gang fell apart. The system that he and John knew so well didn’t work anymore because loyalty was abandoned the moment Micah started whispering poison into Dutch’s ears.

In the final moments of the game, Dutch, Arthur and Micah are left alone as the Pinkertons can be heard creeping ever closer up the mountain. John would be the only person to make it out. The three of them on the mountain would be killed and everything that they started would end for good.
